Brief Biography

Jeanne Baer Portrait Picture

Jeanne earned her degree in photography from UNL about "a million years ago," as she put it, but only began selling her work in the last 10 years.

A native Nebraskan, Jeanne studied under James Alinder at UNL, with W. Eugene Smith in New York City, and with Neal Parent at Maine Media Workshops.

Jeanne was lucky enough to live in Virginia, South Carolina, Italy, and Greece after college. Once she returned to Lincoln, She started her own business, Creative Training Solutions. For 25 years, she designed and delivered training in interpersonal skills for companies around the country. She also authored business books and articles for publishers such as Harvard Business School Press, McGraw Hill, and Pfeiffer International.

But by 2015, Jeanne was ready to get back to her first love, photography! Since then she has had 7 one-woman shows and 10‐12 group shows at Lincoln galleries. In addition to selling her photos, she sells books featuring her travel photos, greeting cards with photo essays (Lagniappe Cards ©), and other items based upon her work.

Although Jeanne enjoys photographing almost every conceivable subject, she especially likes taking spontaneous, un-posed photos of people as they go about their daily lives. You will find those images on this site under the "Life & Times" tab.

Jeanne has also pioneered a special process she calls ArtEffects ©. She transforms her work into images that resemble Impressionist paintings, and then prints them on canvas. She's had the good fortune to travel to 30 countries, and many of her ArtEffects travel photos hang in homes and galleries across the U.S.
